The '''Golem Controller''' is a human archmage with grandmaster Magery and arcane-charged clothing. Despite the name, it doesn't summon or command golems.

== Overview ==
* '''In-game name:''' a random name followed by the title ''the controller''
* '''Corpse:''' ''a golem controller corpse''
* '''Looks:''' a human mage in a dark-hued robe, cloak, thigh boots and gloves.
* '''Behavior:''' it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
* '''Notoriety:''' it always shows as a murderer (red), so anyone can attack it freely.

== Abilities ==
=== Magic ===
It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 95.1–100.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 95.1–100.0.
* '''Damage spells:''' Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning, Mind Blast, Energy Bolt, Explosion and Flame Strike.
* '''Other spells:''' about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain or Mana Vampire) or Paralyze you.
* '''Healing:''' it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
* '''Dispel:''' with 151+ Intelligence it can cast Dispel on your summoned creatures (more reliably the higher its Magery).

== Special behaviors ==
* '''Arcane clothing.''' It wears a robe, thigh boots, leather gloves and a cloak that are all '''arcane''' (20 charges each, arcane hue). They're '''newbied''', so they stay with the body and don't drop as loot.
* '''No golem link.''' It doesn't summon, control or protect golems; the name is flavour only.

== Loot ==
Every golem controller carries:
* '''Gold:''' about 260–350 in total (from its "Rich" loot)

It may also carry:
* A '''magic weapon, armor piece or shield''' (up to 3 chances, from about 20% down to 1% each)
* A '''musical instrument''' (about 1% or less)
* '''an arcane gem''' (70%), used to recharge arcane clothing

=== Carving ===
There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

== Tips ==
* With 95–100 Magery and Evaluating Intelligence it casts strong spells, but it has fewer than 100 hit points: close in fast.
* Its arcane gem (70% chance) is the valuable part of its loot.
* It always shows as a murderer, so attacking it is never a crime.
