The '''Ice Serpent''' (in game, ''a giant ice serpent'') is a big, slow-witted serpent of the frozen lands. It has no poison, but it carries random equipment and has a small chance at a '''glacial staff'''.

== Overview ==
* '''In-game name:''' ''a giant ice serpent''
* '''Corpse:''' ''an ice serpent corpse''
* '''Behavior:''' it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights in melee.
* '''No mana:''' its script sets its mana to 0.
* '''Old name:''' its script keeps the old type name ''Iceserpant'' as an alias, so old saves still load.
* '''Death Adder charm:''' it's one of the serpents a necromancer's '''Death Adder''' familiar can charm (its script marks it ''DeathAdderCharmable'').

== Loot ==
Every ice serpent carries:
* '''Gold:''' about 30–75 in total (from its "Meager" loot)
* '''a random weapon, armor piece or shield'''
* '''a body part or bones:''' a left arm, right arm, torso or bone (10% each), a rib cage (20%) or a pile of bones (40%)

It may also carry:
* A '''magic weapon, armor piece or shield''' (up to 2 chances, from about 1% down to 0.2% each)
* A '''musical instrument''' (about 0.1% or less)
* '''a glacial staff''' (2.5%)

=== Carving ===
Use a blade on the corpse to get:
* '''4 raw ribs'''
* '''15 spined hides'''

== Location ==
* '''The Deceit brazier''' (a scripted item named for the dungeon Deceit): double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to '''attack the closest target''', even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.

== Tips ==
* No poison and no breath: a plain melee fight.
* Carve it for '''15 spined hides''' and 4 raw ribs.
