The Harrower is the ultimate boss behind the champion spawns. Summoned with the six champion skulls, it must be killed twice: once in its first form, and again as the true harrower, a rooted giant surrounded by life-draining tentacles. Its death showers the room with gold and hands out stat-cap scrolls.
Overview
- In-game names: the harrower, then the true harrower; its tentacles are tentacles of the harrower
- Corpses: the remains of the true harrower; tentacles leave a tentacles corpse
- Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
- Bard skills: it can't be provoked.
- Two forms: the first form has 30,000 hit points and moves normally. When it dies it doesn't die: it becomes the true harrower (body 780, hue 0x497) with 65,000 hit points, fully healed, says "Behold my true form!", and can no longer move.
- Tentacles: the stats table's second column is its tentacles, which only appear in the true form.

The Harrower uses the default unarmed damage. Its hit points come from a fixed maximum (30,000, then 65,000) and its mana maximum is 5,000.
Abilities
Magic
It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 120.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 120.0.
- Damage spells: Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning, Mind Blast, Energy Bolt, Explosion and Flame Strike.
- Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain or Mana Vampire) or Paralyze you.
- Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
Poison immunity
It is immune to all poison, so poisoned weapons, the Poison spell and poison potions do nothing to it.
Special behaviors
- Teleport pull. Every 5 seconds there's a 25% chance it pulls a visible player it can attack within 16 tiles to a spot right next to it, and makes that player its target.
- True form. Its first death triggers the true form: full heal to 65,000 hit points, rooted in place, and tentacles of the harrower spawn in up to 9 directions about 10 tiles away.
- Tentacles drain life. Every 5 seconds each tentacle hits everything it can attack within 9 tiles — players, pets, summons and animated dead — for 14–30 damage, and heals both itself and the Harrower by the same amount. Tentacles can't move, and they reflect every spell cast at them.
- Dispels summons. Both the Harrower and its tentacles destroy dispellable summons on contact.
Rewards
When the true Harrower dies:
- Harrower title: every player with looting rights gets the Harrower champion title.
- 16 stat-cap scrolls are shared out at random among the players with looting rights: 250 (10%), 245 (15%), 240 (20%), 235 (25%) or 230 (30%). As with power scrolls, a Justice protector may get a copy (60/80/100% for Seeker/Follower/Knight).
- Gold rain: every open tile within 16 tiles gets 750–1,250 gold over about 10 seconds.
- Tentacles die with it, and all damage dealt to them counts toward the artifact roll.
- Artifact roll: there's a 5% chance of the unique artifact (Acid-Proof Robe), 10% of a shared one (The Robe of Britannia "Ari") and 15% of a decoration (an Evil Idol Skull or Skull Pole). The winner is drawn at random weighted by damage dealt (to the Harrower and the tentacles) among players who are alive, within 32 tiles and have room in their backpack. Each player is told their running Total Damage during the fight.
- No champion skull or power scrolls. The Harrower has its own reward rules, separate from the champions.
Loot
The true Harrower
Every true Harrower carries:
- Gold: about 1,040–2,075 in total (from its "Super Boss" ×2 and "Meager" loot)
- 20 magic weapons, armor pieces or shields (guaranteed)
It may also carry:
- Another magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 2 chances, from about 1% down to 0.2% each)
- A musical instrument (about 4.1% or less)
Each tentacle
Every tentacle carries:
- Gold: about 804–1,300 in total (from its "Filthy Rich" ×2 loot)
- 3 magic scrolls from circles 4–7. With Necromancy enabled on New Bradford, necromancy scrolls can show up too.
- 2 8th-circle scrolls (with Necromancy enabled, Vengeful Spirit or Vampiric Embrace scrolls can show up too)
- 50 reagents (random)
- 15–75 necromancy reagents (Necromancy is enabled on New Bradford)
It may also carry:
- A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 8 chances, from about 33% down to 5% each)
- A musical instrument (about 4% or less)
Carving
There's nothing to carve from its corpse.
Location
- Summoning: the Harrower is called when all six champion skulls (Power, Enlightenment, Venom, Pain, Greed and Death) are placed in the braziers of a champion skull platform. Only one Harrower can exist at a time.
- It appears in the depths of a random dungeon, picked from 15 spots: Destard (2), Despise, Deceit (2), Fire (2), Terathan Keep, Wrong, Shame (2), Hythloth (2) and Covetous (2).
- A Harrower gate opens at the skull platform. It's removed when the true Harrower dies.
Tips
- Kill the first form at range — its teleport pull drags you next to it anyway, so have heals ready.
- In the true form, kill the tentacles first or stay more than 9 tiles away from them: each one heals the Harrower every 5 seconds.
- Never cast spells at the tentacles; they reflect everything. Use weapons, archery or pets.
- The artifact goes to a damage-weighted random player, and damage to the tentacles counts too.
- It's immune to poison, can't be provoked, and its first form alone has 30,000 hit points: this is a guild fight.
