The Ice Elemental is a creature of living ice with decent magic and solid melee damage.

Overview

  • In-game name: an ice elemental
  • Corpse: an ice elemental corpse
  • Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.

Wrestling 60.1–100.0
Magic Resistance 30.1–80.0
Evaluating Intelligence 10.5–60.0
Magery 10.5–60.0

Abilities

Magic

It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 10.5–60.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 10.5–60.0.

  • Damage spells: Magic Arrow and Harm. A stronger one (with more Magery) can also cast Fireball, Lightning and Mind Blast.
  • Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain) or Paralyze you.
  • Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
  • Dispel: with 171+ Intelligence it can cast Dispel on your summoned creatures (more reliably the higher its Magery).

Loot

Every ice elemental carries:

  • Gold: about 120–300 in total (from its "Average" ×2 loot)
  • 2 random gems (amber, amethyst, citrine, diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire, star sapphire or tourmaline)
  • 1 black pearl
  • 3 random reagents

It may also carry:

  • A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 6 chances, from about 5% down to 0.5% each)
  • A musical instrument (about 0.8% or less)

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Location

  • The Deceit brazier: double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.

Tips

  • It mixes 10–21 melee damage with spells; fight it at full health.
  • It drops no treasure maps.
