The Headless One is a weak, shambling body with no head. It's one of the weakest monsters new players meet, with only 16–30 hit points.
Overview
- In-game name: a headless one
- Corpse: a headless corpse
- Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights in melee.
- Movement: it is one of the slower creatures in the game (slow speed), so you can outrun it.
- Rummages corpses: from time to time it takes a random item from a corpse within 2 tiles (*rummages through a corpse and takes an item*). Loot your kills quickly near one.

Loot
Every headless one carries:
- Gold: about 1–25 in total (from its "Poor" loot)
- one body part: a head, torso, right or left arm, or right or left leg (equal odds)
It may also carry:
- A musical instrument (about 0.02% or less)
Carving
Use a blade on the corpse to get:
- 1 raw ribs
Location
- The Deceit brazier: double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.
Tips
- Easy prey for new characters.
- Its body part loot is a novelty item.
- It rummages through corpses, so loot your kills before it reaches them.
