The Hind is a female deer that only fights when attacked. It's easy to tame and always obeys.

Overview

  • In-game name: a hind
  • Corpse: a deer corpse
  • Behavior: it leaves you alone unless you attack it, then fights in melee (animal AI).
  • Corpse note: its corpse is named a deer corpse.

The script also lists Age of Shadows resistances and damage types. New Bradford runs on Lord Blackthorn's Revenge combat rules, so these values have no effect in fights. They're shown here only for completeness.
Damage types 100% physical
Resistances Physical 5–15, Cold 5

Taming

Requirement Value
Minimum Animal Taming 23.1 (below this you have no chance)
Control slots 1
Maximum owners 5 (each previous owner makes it harder to tame)
Bonding Yes
Rideable No
Favorite food Fruits and vegetables or grain and hay
  • Success chance. For a first-time tame, your chance of success at the end of an attempt rises by about 2% per skill point and reaches 100% at 73.0 skill. Every previous owner adds 6 points to the difficulty.
  • Don't hurt it. If it takes any damage during your attempt, taming fails with "The animal is too angry to continue taming."
  • Stay close. You must stay within 6 tiles of it and keep a clear path to it.
  • Obedience. Once tamed, its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so it always obeys its owner.
  • Re-taming. If you've owned this one before, taming it again always succeeds ("That wasn't even challenging.").
  • After its first tame, its skills drop to 90% of their wild values, or 86% if it was paralyzed while you tamed it. Its stats don't drop.

Bonding

Only the owner can bond with a hind. Its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so there's no Animal Taming requirement to bond. Feed it to start bonding, then feed it again after 7 days to finish. When you see "Your pet has bonded with you!", it's done.

Loot

It carries no loot.

Carving

Use a blade on the corpse to get:

  • 5 raw ribs
  • 8 hides, doubled to 16 in Felucca

Tips

  • Taming starts at 23.1 and always succeeds from 73.0.
  • It always obeys its owner.
  • Carve the corpse for 5 raw ribs and 8 hides (16 in Felucca).
