Loot

Every stone gargoyle carries:

  • Gold: about 120–300 in total (from its "Average" ×2 loot)
  • 1 random potion: Agility, Strength, Refresh, Lesser Cure, Lesser Heal or Lesser Poison
  • 1 random gem (amber, amethyst, citrine, diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire, star sapphire or tourmaline)
  • 12 iron ingots

It may also carry:

  • A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 6 chances, from about 5% down to 0.5% each)
  • A musical instrument (about 0.8% or less)
  • A gargoyle's pickaxe (5%). Mining with one has a 10% chance to call up an ore elemental when you dig coloured ore; see Dull Copper Elemental.
  • A level 2 treasure map (1% chance)

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Location

  • Champion spawn: it is a level 3 creature of the Abyss champion spawn (champion: Semidar), so it appears at the fixed Abyss altar at 5815, 1352, and any of the 11 Lost Lands altars that rolls Abyss. Each one killed during a spawn gives the killer Valor and champion-title progress.
  • The Deceit brazier (a scripted item named for the dungeon Deceit): double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.

Champion spawns only exist if the staff have generated them (with the staff command [GenChamps); the code doesn't say whether that's been done on New Bradford.

Tips

  • It has no magic: a straight melee fight.
  • Its armor rating of 50 makes weak weapons bounce off.
  • Loot the 12 iron ingots for smithing.
