The Orc Bomber lobs explosive flasks from up to 12 tiles away. Its melee is weak (1–8), but its bombs hit for 10–20 fire damage each, often two in a row.

Overview

  • In-game name: an orc bomber
  • Corpse: an orcish corpse
  • Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights in melee.
  • Enemies: savages and orcs are enemies and attack each other on sight.
  • Rummages corpses: from time to time it takes a random item from a corpse within 2 tiles (*rummages through a corpse and takes an item*). Loot your kills quickly near one.
  • Speech: it speaks orcish.

Abilities

Bombs

While it's fighting, if its target is within 12 tiles and in sight, it throws a bomb. The bomb lands 1 second later for 10–20 fire damage. After every other throw there's a 75% chance it throws the next bomb just 3 seconds later; otherwise it waits 5–15 seconds.

Special behaviors

  • Orcish kin mask. It won't treat a player wearing an orcish kin mask as an enemy, so a masked player can walk among orcs. But if a masked player attacks it (or does anything else hostile to it), the mask is destroyed and they take 50 fire damage.

Loot

Every orc bomber carries:

  • Gold: about 90–225 in total (from its "Average" and "Meager" loot)
  • 6–10 each of sulfurous ash, mandrake root and black pearl
  • a mortar and pestle
  • a lesser explosion potion

It may also carry:

  • A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 5 chances, from about 5% down to 0.2% each)
  • A musical instrument (about 0.5% or less)
  • a bola ball (20%), which a tinker can make into a bola

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Location

  • The Deceit brazier: double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.

Tips

  • Running away doesn't help much: it bombs you from up to 12 tiles. Close in, or break line of sight.
  • Its reagents (ash, mandrake and black pearl) and explosion potion are handy loot for mages and alchemists.
  • It has no treasure map level.
  • It rummages through corpses, so loot your kills before it reaches them.
