The Efreet is a genie of fire and smoke and a strong spellcaster. It's best known for a small chance to carry a piece of daemon bone armor.
Overview
- In-game name: an efreet
- Corpse: an efreet corpse
- Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
- Movement: it is one of the faster creatures in the game (fast speed).

Abilities
Magic
It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 60.1–75.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 60.1–75.0.
- Damage spells: Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning and Mind Blast. A stronger one (with more Magery) can also cast Energy Bolt and Explosion.
- Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain) or Paralyze you.
- Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
- Dispel: with 171+ Intelligence it can cast Dispel on your summoned creatures (more reliably the higher its Magery).
Loot
Every efreet carries:
- Gold: about 320–500 in total (from its "Rich" and "Average" loot)
- 1 random gem (amber, amethyst, citrine, diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire, star sapphire or tourmaline)
It may also carry:
- A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 6 chances, from about 20% down to 0.5% each)
- A musical instrument (about 1.4% or less)
- a piece of daemon bone armor (2%): arms, chest, gloves, legs or helm (equal odds)
- A level 5 treasure map (1% chance)
Carving
There's nothing to carve from its corpse.
Location
- The Deceit brazier (a scripted item named for the dungeon Deceit): double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.
Tips
- Hunt efreets for daemon bone armor; it's rare at 2%.
- On New Bradford's pre-AoS rules it can drop level 5 maps (level 4 on AoS).
