The Lich Lord is a powerful undead sorcerer with 250–303 hit points, 150–200 Magic Resistance and 90–110 Necromancy. When hurt, it can raise skeletons to fight for it.
Overview
- In-game name: a lich lord
- Corpse: a lich's corpse
- Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
- Enemies: fey creatures (wisps, pixies, centaurs, ethereal warriors and the like) and the undead are enemies and attack each other on sight.
- Rummages corpses: from time to time it takes a random item from a corpse within 2 tiles (*rummages through a corpse and takes an item*). Loot your kills quickly near one.
- Bleed immune: bleed attacks (a weapon special New Bradford enables) don't affect it.

Abilities
Magic
It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 90.1–100.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 90.1–100.0.
- Damage spells: Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning, Mind Blast, Energy Bolt, Explosion and Flame Strike.
- Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain or Mana Vampire) or Paralyze you.
- Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
- Necromancy: with 90.0–110.0 Necromancy it also casts necromancer spells (New Bradford has Necromancy enabled). How often depends on its Necromancy compared with its Magery. Necro damage spells: Pain Spike, Poison Strike and Strangle (plus Wither and Vengeful Spirit once its Necromancy reaches 100). Necro curses: Blood Oath, Corpse Skin, Evil Omen and Mind Rot. It finishes off a weak target with Pain Spike, and heals itself with Spirit Speak instead of Greater Heal.
- Dispel: with 566+ Intelligence it can cast Dispel on your summoned creatures (more reliably the higher its Magery).
Poison immunity
It is immune to all poison, so poisoned weapons, the Poison spell and poison potions do nothing to it.
Raises skeletons
When damaged there's a 5% chance (at most once every 5 minutes, and only while it has fewer than 4 followers) that it raises up to 4 skeletons within 4 tiles. There's also a 25% chance it disguises itself as a skeleton for 5 minutes.
Loot
Every lich lord carries:
- Gold: about 402–650 in total (from its "Filthy Rich" loot)
- 2 magic scrolls from circles 4–7. With Necromancy enabled on New Bradford, necromancy scrolls can show up too.
- a gnarled staff
- 12–40 necromancy reagents (Necromancy is enabled on New Bradford)
It may also carry:
- A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 4 chances, from about 33% down to 5% each)
- A musical instrument (about 2% or less)
- A level 4 treasure map (1% chance)
Carving
There's nothing to carve from its corpse.
Location
- Champion spawn: it is a level 4 creature of the Unholy Terror champion spawn (champion: Neira), so it appears at the fixed Unholy Terror altar at 5179, 709, and any of the 11 Lost Lands altars that rolls Unholy Terror. Each one killed during a spawn gives the killer Valor and champion-title progress.
- The Deceit brazier (a scripted item named for the dungeon Deceit): double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.
Champion spawns only exist if the staff have generated them (with the staff command [GenChamps); the code doesn't say whether that's been done on New Bradford.
Tips
- Its very high Magic Resistance weakens your spells; melee works well.
- It's immune to all poison.
- It rummages through corpses, so loot your kills before it reaches them.
- Filthy Rich loot, 2 scrolls of circles 4–7 and a 1% chance at a level 4 treasure map.
