The Cow is a peaceful farm animal. It's easy to tame, always obeys, and you can milk it.
Overview
- In-game name: a cow
- Corpse: a cow corpse
- Looks: every cow spawns with one of two random bodies (0xD8 or 0xE7).
- Behavior: it leaves you alone unless you attack it, then fights in melee (animal AI).

| Tactics | 5.5 |
| Wrestling | 5.5 |
| Resistances and damage types (not used on New Bradford) | |
|---|---|
| The script also lists Age of Shadows resistances and damage types. New Bradford runs on Lord Blackthorn's Revenge combat rules, so these values have no effect in fights. They're shown here only for completeness. | |
| Damage types | 100% physical |
| Resistances | Physical 5–15 |
Taming
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum Animal Taming | 11.1 (below this you have no chance) |
| Control slots | 1 |
| Maximum owners | 5 (each previous owner makes it harder to tame) |
| Bonding | Yes |
| Rideable | No |
| Favorite food | Fruits and vegetables or grain and hay |
- Success chance. For a first-time tame, your chance of success at the end of an attempt rises by about 2% per skill point and reaches 100% at 61.0 skill. Every previous owner adds 6 points to the difficulty.
- Don't hurt it. If it takes any damage during your attempt, taming fails with "The animal is too angry to continue taming."
- Stay close. You must stay within 6 tiles of it and keep a clear path to it.
- Obedience. Once tamed, its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so it always obeys its owner.
- Re-taming. If you've owned this one before, taming it again always succeeds ("That wasn't even challenging.").
- After its first tame, its skills drop to 90% of their wild values, or 86% if it was paralyzed while you tamed it. Its stats don't drop.
Bonding
Only the owner can bond with a cow. Its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so there's no Animal Taming requirement to bond. Feed it to start bonding, then feed it again after 7 days to finish. When you see "Your pet has bonded with you!", it's done.
Milking
Target a cow with an empty drink container, such as a pitcher, to fill it with milk.
- Each cow gives 4 fills. After that you must wait 1 day from the last milking before it gives milk again ("This cow can not be milked now. Please wait for some time.").
- The script means for you to stand within 2 tiles with a clear view, and only a tamed cow's owner should be able to milk it ("The cow nimbly escapes your attempts to milk it."). As written, it shows those messages but doesn't actually stop the milking.
Cow tipping
Double-clicking a cow has a 5% chance to make it play its tipping animation, and some chance to make it moo (15% one sound, 20% another). It's just for fun and does nothing else.
Loot
It carries no loot.
Carving
Use a blade on the corpse to get:
- 8 raw ribs
- 12 hides, doubled to 24 in Felucca
Tips
- Anyone with 11.1 Animal Taming can try, and every attempt succeeds from 61.0.
- It always obeys its owner.
- Carve the corpse for 8 raw ribs and 12 hides (24 in Felucca).
- Bring an empty pitcher to collect milk.
