Neira the Necromancer is the champion of the Unholy Terror spawn. She rides an unseen mount, casts powerful magic and scatters unholy bones that rise as undead.
Overview
- In-game name: Neira the necromancer
- Corpse: the remains of Neira
- Looks: a woman in a hooded shroud of shadows, riding, with a red scimitar. Neither the shroud nor the scimitar can be looted (they're locked to her).
- Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
- Movement: it is one of the faster creatures in the game (very fast speed).
- Notoriety: it always shows as a murderer (red), so anyone can attack it freely.

Abilities
Magic
It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 120.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 120.0.
- Damage spells: Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning, Mind Blast, Energy Bolt, Explosion and Flame Strike.
- Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain or Mana Vampire) or Paralyze you.
- Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
- Dispel: with 505+ Intelligence it can cast Dispel on your summoned creatures (more reliably the higher its Magery).
Poison immunity
It is immune to poison up to Deadly (Lesser, Regular, Greater, Deadly). Only stronger poison affects it.
Bard note
Her script lets her be provoked and calmed (Peacemaking) under New Bradford's rules, but she's immune to Discordance.
Special behaviors
- Unholy bones. Every time she hits someone in melee or is hit in melee there's a 10% chance she makes an unholy bone: 25% of the time she throws it at that person (after 1 second it deals 10–20 damage and the bone lands at their feet), otherwise she drops it at her own feet. Each time she takes spell damage there's also a 10% chance she throws a bone at the caster.
- Bones become undead. An unholy bone turns into a random undead 5–10 seconds after it lands: a skeleton, zombie, wraith, spectre, ghoul, mummy, bogle, rotting corpse, bone knight, skeletal knight, lich or lich lord.
- Destroy the bones. Use a blade on an unholy bone before it rises: each try has a 30% chance to destroy it ("You destroy the bone."), and a destroyed bone leaves 25–100 gold. Otherwise you'll see "You damage the bone.".
- Gets faster when hurt. Below a quarter of her hit points she moves 20% faster.
- Mount. She rides an invisible mount that is deleted when she dies.
Champion rewards
Neira is a champion: a champion appears at a champion altar when a spawn reaches its final stage, and killing it triggers the champion rewards.
- Power scrolls (Felucca only): 6 power scrolls are shared out at random among the players with looting rights (a player can get more than one). Each is a random non-crafting skill: +20 (5%), +15 (35%) or +10 (60%). If you're protected by another player through the Justice virtue, your protector may get a copy (60% for a Seeker, 80% for a Follower, 100% for a Knight of Justice).
- Valor: every player with looting rights gains 800 Valor points.
- Champion skull (Felucca only): the Death skull goes into the backpack of a random player with looting rights, or into the corpse if nobody qualifies. The six different skulls are needed to summon the Harrower.
- Gold rain: every open tile within 12 tiles of the body gets a pile of 500–1,000 gold over the next 10 seconds, with fire and explosion effects. This happens on any facet.
- Star room gate: after the champion dies, the altar opens a gate to the star room (Felucca 5143, 1774) for 2 minutes.
- No artifacts: its script lists champion artifacts, but the code only hands them out under Mondain's Legacy rules, so they never drop on New Bradford.
Loot
Every Neira carries:
- Gold: about 1,545–3,075 in total (from its "Ultra Rich" ×3 and "Meager" loot)
- 18 magic weapons, armor pieces or shields (guaranteed)
It may also carry:
- Another magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 2 chances, from about 1% down to 0.2% each)
- A musical instrument (about 6.1% or less)
Carving
There's nothing to carve from its corpse.
Location
- Champion spawn: it is the champion of the Unholy Terror spawn. It appears at the fixed Unholy Terror altar at Felucca 5179, 709, and at any of the 11 Lost Lands altars that rolls Unholy Terror when it starts, once the spawn's fourth level is cleared.
Champion spawns only exist if the staff have generated them (with the staff command [GenChamps); the code doesn't say whether that's been done on New Bradford.
Tips
- Bring a blade and destroy her bones quickly — a stray bone can rise as a lich lord or rotting corpse.
- Her Magery and Eval Int are 120, so expect Flame Strikes and Energy Bolts.
- Her armor rating is only 30, so heavy physical damage works well.
- She can be provoked and calmed under New Bradford's rules (her immunity only applies from Samurai Empire on).
- Champions can move over and destroy obstacles in their way, and they see 18 tiles away, so you can't wall them off.
