The Wisp is a glowing ball of light and a powerful spellcaster. It leaves you alone unless you attack it, but once you do, its magic is dangerous.
Overview
- In-game name: a wisp
- Corpse: a wisp corpse
- Factions: its script lists it as an ally of the Council of Mages faction and the Hero ethic (this only matters where factions and ethics are active).
- Behavior: it leaves you alone unless you attack it, then fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
- Movement: it is one of the faster creatures in the game (fast speed).
- Enemies: fey creatures (wisps, pixies, centaurs, ethereal warriors and the like) and the undead are enemies and attack each other on sight.
- Light: it carries a light source, so it glows in the dark.
- Speech: it speaks the wisp language.
- Quick to switch targets: it looks for a new target every second.

Abilities
Magic
It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 80.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 80.0.
- Damage spells: Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning, Mind Blast, Energy Bolt, Explosion and Flame Strike.
- Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse), drain your mana (Mana Drain or Mana Vampire) or Paralyze you.
- Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.
- Dispel: with 196+ Intelligence it can cast Dispel on your summoned creatures (more reliably the higher its Magery).
Loot
Every wisp carries:
- Gold: about 320–500 in total (from its "Rich" and "Average" loot)
It may also carry:
- A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 6 chances, from about 20% down to 0.5% each)
- A musical instrument (about 1.4% or less)
Carving
There's nothing to carve from its corpse.
Location
- Champion spawn: it is a level 2 creature of the Forest Lord champion spawn (champion: Lord Oaks), so it appears at the fixed Forest Lord altar at Felucca 5559, 3757 (Lost Lands). Each one killed during a spawn gives the killer Valor and champion-title progress.
- The Deceit brazier (a scripted item named for the dungeon Deceit): double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.
Champion spawns only exist if the staff have generated them (with the staff command [GenChamps); the code doesn't say whether that's been done on New Bradford.
Tips
- Don't attack one unless you're ready: its magic is strong.
- Undead attack wisps on sight.
