The Slime is a slow, poisonous blob that attacks on sight. It's weak, easy to tame, and always obeys its owner.

Overview

  • In-game name: a slime
  • Corpse: a slimey corpse
  • Looks: every slime spawns in a random slime color.
  • Behavior: it attacks the nearest target it sees and fights in melee.
  • Movement: it is one of the slower creatures in the game.
  • Corpse note: its corpse is named a slimey corpse.

Abilities

Poison

Every time its melee attack hits, there's a 50% chance it also poisons the target with Lesser poison. A tamed slime keeps this attack.

It is immune to Lesser poison.

Taming

Requirement Value
Minimum Animal Taming 23.1 (below this you have no chance)
Control slots 1
Maximum owners 5 (each previous owner makes it harder to tame)
Bonding Yes
Rideable No
Favorite food Meat, fish, fruits and vegetables, grain and hay or eggs
  • Success chance. For a first-time tame, your chance of success at the end of an attempt rises by about 2% per skill point and reaches 100% at 73.0 skill. Every previous owner adds 6 points to the difficulty.
  • Don't hurt it. If it takes any damage during your attempt, taming fails with "The animal is too angry to continue taming."
  • Stay close. You must stay within 6 tiles of it and keep a clear path to it.
  • Obedience. Once tamed, its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so it always obeys its owner.
  • Re-taming. If you've owned this one before, taming it again always succeeds ("That wasn't even challenging.").
  • After its first tame, its skills drop to 90% of their wild values, or 86% if it was paralyzed while you tamed it. Its stats don't drop.

Bonding

Only the owner can bond with a slime. Its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so there's no Animal Taming requirement to bond. Feed it to start bonding, then feed it again after 7 days to finish. When you see "Your pet has bonded with you!", it's done.

Loot

Every slime carries:

  • Gold: about 1–25 in total (from its "Poor" loot)
  • 1 random gem (amber, amethyst, citrine, diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire, star sapphire or tourmaline)

It may also carry:

  • A musical instrument (well under 1%: about 0.02%)

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Tips

  • It attacks on sight, and its hits can give you Lesser poison.
  • Taming starts at 23.1 and always succeeds from 73.0.
  • It always obeys its owner.
  • It eats almost anything: meat, fish, fruits and vegetables, grain and hay, and eggs.
  • It always carries 1 gem.
