The Meer Warrior is a quick, lightly built Meer fighter: only 52–60 hit points, but 186–200 Dexterity and 12–19 damage. It punishes anyone who attacks it from far away. The Meer have good karma and fight only the evil: they attack creatures and players with negative karma and leave good-karma players alone.

Overview

  • In-game name: a meer warrior
  • Corpse: a meer corpse
  • Behavior: it attacks creatures and players with negative karma (evil) on sight, ignores everyone else, and fights in melee.
  • Bard skills: it can't be provoked, calmed with Peacemaking or discorded.
  • Notoriety: it shows as innocent (blue). Whether attacking it affects your own standing hasn't been checked.
  • Rummages corpses: from time to time it takes a random item from a corpse within 2 tiles (*rummages through a corpse and takes an item*). Loot your kills quickly near one.

Abilities

Spear throw

When something more than 7 tiles away damages it for more than 3 points (and doesn't kill it), it throws a spear back. The spear hits 1 second later for 20–30 damage.

Loot

Every meer warrior carries:

  • Gold: about 30–75 in total (from its "Meager" loot)

It may also carry:

  • A magic weapon, armor piece or shield (up to 2 chances, from about 1% down to 0.2% each)
  • A musical instrument (about 0.1% or less)

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Tips

  • Archers and mages: fight it from within 7 tiles, or expect a spear back every time you hit.
  • Attacking one makes you a criminal (it shows blue), and killing it costs karma: it has +5,000 karma.
  • Meer captains nearby heal injured warriors every 10–15 seconds.
  • It rummages through corpses, so loot your kills before it reaches them.
