The Shadow Wisp is a small, dark wisp that only fights when attacked. It glows faintly and carries a body part instead of gold.

Overview

  • In-game name: a shadow wisp
  • Corpse: a wisp corpse
  • Behavior: it leaves you alone unless you attack it, then fights like a spellcaster (mage AI), mixing spells with melee.
  • Enemies: fey creatures (wisps, pixies, centaurs, ethereal warriors and the like) and the undead are enemies and attack each other on sight.
  • Light: it carries a light source, so it glows in the dark.

Abilities

Magic

It fights with the mage AI: it closes to melee range but casts between swings. Its Magery is 50.0 and its Evaluating Intelligence 40.0.

  • Damage spells: Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball and Lightning.
  • Other spells: about 1 cast in 8 is Poison (only if you aren't poisoned already). It may also Bless itself, curse you (Weaken, Clumsy, Feeblemind or Curse) or drain your mana (Mana Drain).
  • Healing: it cures itself when poisoned, and sometimes heals itself (Greater Heal when badly hurt), more often the higher its Magery.

Loot

Every shadow wisp carries:

  • one body part: bone pile (40%), rib cage (20%), left arm, right arm, torso or bone (10% each)

It has no loot packs, so it carries no gold.

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Location

  • Champion spawn: it is a level 1 creature of the Forest Lord champion spawn (champion: Lord Oaks), so it appears at the fixed Forest Lord altar at Felucca 5559, 3757 (Lost Lands). Each one killed during a spawn gives the killer Valor and champion-title progress.
  • The Deceit brazier (a scripted item named for the dungeon Deceit): double-clicking it from within 2 tiles summons one creature picked at random from a list of about 90, and this is one of them. The brazier warns players who step next to it ("Heed this warning well, and use this brazier at your own peril"). It works once every 15 minutes and places the creature within 5 tiles. The summoned creature is set to attack the closest target, even if it would normally leave you alone, and it stays within 5 tiles of the brazier.

Champion spawns only exist if the staff have generated them (with the staff command [GenChamps); the code doesn't say whether that's been done on New Bradford.

Tips

  • With 10–24 hit points it's an easy kill, but there's nothing valuable on it.
  • Undead attack it on sight, and it attacks them.
