Carving Nothing

The Parrot is a small bird that anyone can tame. Its script file is marked as being for the UO 3D client only, and it's a very simple creature: no loot, nothing to carve and no special abilities.

Overview

  • In-game name: a parrot
  • Corpse: a parrot corpse
  • Behavior: it leaves you alone unless you attack it, then fights in melee (animal AI).
  • Note: the parrot's script file is named (UO 3D Only) Parrot.cs. Whether every player's client shows it correctly hasn't been checked.

Taming

Requirement Value
Minimum Animal Taming 0.0 (anyone can try, even with no skill)
Control slots 1
Maximum owners 5 (each previous owner makes it harder to tame)
Bonding Yes
Rideable No

  • Success chance. For a first-time tame, your chance of success at the end of an attempt rises by about 2% per skill point and reaches 100% at 49.9 skill. Every previous owner adds 6 points to the difficulty.
  • Don't hurt it. If it takes any damage during your attempt, taming fails with "The animal is too angry to continue taming."
  • Stay close. You must stay within 6 tiles of it and keep a clear path to it.
  • Obedience. Once tamed, its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so it always obeys its owner.
  • Re-taming. If you've owned this one before, taming it again always succeeds ("That wasn't even challenging.").
  • After its first tame, its skills drop to 90% of their wild values, or 86% if it was paralyzed while you tamed it. Its stats don't drop.

Bonding

Only the owner can bond with a parrot. Its taming requirement is 29.1 or lower, so there's no Animal Taming requirement to bond. Feed it to start bonding, then feed it again after 7 days to finish. When you see "Your pet has bonded with you!", it's done.

Loot

It carries no loot.

Carving

There's nothing to carve from its corpse.

Tips

  • Its minimum is 0.0 and every attempt succeeds from 49.9, so anyone can tame one.
  • It always obeys its owner.
  • It drops nothing and can't be carved; it's purely a companion.
